Monochrome Maniacs: Well, Black Forest, Colorado

Well, Black Forest, Colorado
Actually, I'm not completely sure if this is a well or just an unusually shaped water spigot. I've never seen a water spigot with a funny bulb-shaped thingumajig on top. Probably there is some sort of gizmo that attaches on top to pump the water. The spigot handle is missing so I couldn't try it and I was just glad to get out of there without getting shot or having the hounds sicced on me. Does anybody out there know?

Scenic Sunday: Pikes Peak from Palmer Park Bluff

Pikes Peak from Palmer Park Bluff
Vio took this photo back in March. I think it is an interesting photo because of her perspective and focus on the lichen and the rock has a lot of intersting things going on. Palmer Park is a huge park that overlooks Colorado Springs. It has miles of hiking and mountan biking trials.

SkyWatch Friday: Balloon Passing By Cheyenne Mountain

Balloon Passing By Cheyenne Mountain
I took this photo the day after the Balloon Festival. I'm thinking someone didn't get the memo.
I had to zoom in a lot since I took this from our back deck so its very grainy, but there is a plane and a bird too and you can see the antennae on top of Cheyenne Mountain. Cheyenne Mountain is where NORAD tracks Santa Claus. My girls and I like to give them a jingle on Chrismas Eve to find out what time Santa will be arriving in Colorado Springs.

Scenic Sunday: Mellow Yellow

Mellow Yellow
Vio took this photo earlier this summer in the Garden of the Gods. I like all the yellow - even the yellow bee (or maybe it's a wasp). It's good that the GoG has a hydrant because a lot of people walk their dogs there.

Camera Critters: American Kestrel Hawk and Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse?

American Kestrel Hawk and Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse?
I took this photo back in May I think. It was obviously a windy day because his feathers are a bit ruffled, but probably not as ruffled at his friend's. I'm sure they were just playing around. If his friend is a Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse, then Mr. Hawk could end up a jail bird.

MyWorld Tuesday: Snow on the Last Day of Summer, Front Range

Snow on the Last Day of Summer, Front Range
After a break in the snow yesterday, 21 Sept., I was able to take this photo from our back deck. It's about a month early. My girls were very excited to see the snow, but disappointed it didn't stay on the ground. Yes, our view is different now since we bought a house in the city. We enjoyed renting out in the country, but our girls are ecstatic to have friends all along the street. We will miss our hawk, but we now have a red fox as a neighbor.

Scenic Sunday: Pikes Peak Sunset

Pikes Peak Sunset
My new bionic eye with built in camera seems to be working ok except my eyelashes sometimes get in the way - I'm going to have to work on my timing.
